Do your hydrangeas flop? 🤍 Try pruning them in late winter/early spring! 🙌This hydrangea is a ‘Little Lime’ 💚 hydrangea and is known for strong 💪 stems that resist flopping. How to prune Limelight Hydrangeas 💚 I typically wait until February to do this, but you can prune late winter- early spring in your area 🥰 Limelight Hydrangeas bloom on new wood, which is why you want to cut them back before any new growth emerges. This does not apply to all hydrangeas as some bloom on old wood!!! I cut it back to about 1/3 of the height and all of the energy will go to the new growth 🥰 Let me know if you have any questions or need any other hydrangea videos 🙌 | Carmen Johns

Late winter early spring is when we prune our panicle type hydrangeas: lime light, quick fire, strawberry vanilla are examples. These are the hydrangeas with the cone shaped flowers. - 1st remove all the thin unproductive stems. Anything thinner than your pinky finger. - while you were removing the thin stems look for any other stems that are wounded where the bark has rubbed off. That’s a potential for disease. - next look for any crossing branches that could cause a wound. Remove one of the tw

It’s time to prune your panicle hydrangeas (limelight, pinky winky, bobo, Quickfire, Quickfire fab, vanilla strawberry, pufferfish, etc!). You prune now in late winter/early spring for your growing zone because you need to reduce the size or shape of the plant before it fully comes out of dormancy and leafs out. Your plat hasn’t made its flower buds for this year yet, so you can prune without worrying! #gardening101 #hydrangeapruning #springgardening #hydrangea #tiktoklearningcampaign

Early spring is the ideal time to prune your panicle hydrangeas like limelight, quickfire, bobos, etc. They are very responsive to pruning so don’t be afraid to be radical, especially if you have one that is very overgrown and out of control. The risk there is splitting and breaking of branches if you don’t—especially for those of us in cold climates with snow and ice. I have a lot of hydrangea videos in the Hydrangea playlist if you want more of this and I also have a simple guide available on

How to Prune Hydrangeas? 🌸 Ball-shaped flowers = old wood bloomers → prune right after blooming, by end of July 🍦 Cone-shaped flowers = new wood bloomers → prune in March–April 📏 Count 2 pairs of leaves from the top and cut just below 🌱 Don’t cut off buds—they’re next year’s flowers 🪓 Remove weak or drooping branches at the base 💧 After pruning, reduce water and stop fertilizing 🔁 Resume care once side buds start growing #indoorplants #homegarden #plantcare #gardening #plants #caretips #i
